Fiona and Scott Married | The Marshes | Wedding Photographer Ottawa

Fiona and Scott met online, yes online dating does work! Plenty of Fish no less!  Their first date was at Gelato's and Fresco's (BEST scallops in Ottawa) and five years later he proposed and she said "yes". Their wedding was beautiful despite mother nature not co operating at all.

The wedding party was rained on, blown around and half frozen during their pictures, except for one rogue umbrella in one picture (look below) you can't tell.  They were troopers!

Here is a little of their wedding day in Fiona's words:

"Our wedding day went slower then I thought. I relished in the time I had with my girlfriends while getting ready. Just enjoying the moments spent laughing about all things girly. I was the fifth girlfriend to get married this past year, so I think we were all just excited to be celebrating ONE more time until our lives went 'back to normal'. Having our closest friends and family all together really made the day magical for us.."

They were married and held their reception at The Marshes Golf Club

Wedding Photographer Ottawa | Jamie and Aaron Married | Brockville Wedding

How they met...

Aaron and I met for the first time over 4 years ago at Kelseys in Brockville. We went on a blind date with our two best friends that happened to be dating at the time. Three years later Aaron waited till Christmas Eve while we were at my family hunting cabin in the middle of the bush, to speak with my father about taking my hand in marriage.

Later that night while my parents opened their gifts Aaron pulled out a box, which I thought was an ipod, as I always borrow his.  Then I saw the tears in his eyes, and the rest is history!

Lights, camera...it's show time! Let's get married on stage!

Jamie had an idea that she wanted her wedding to be blinged out and to get married on a stage! The beautiful Brockville Arts Center was the perfect setting for such an utterly unique wedding.

Being a well known hairstylist in Brockville with a long list of clients and friends that she wanted to invite to her wedding, she decided she would open her wedding up for anyone who wished to attend. Jamie had clients who were dancers who wanted to be a part of the ceremony too. The whole thing played out like a real life, live show with choreographed dancing-a dramatic musical love story...
...Instead of gifts,
guests bought tickets...

Veering even further from the traditional wedding day I usually photograph, Jamie and Aaron also made their wedding ceremony a fund raiser. Instead of gifts, guests bought tickets to the ceremony and Jamie and Aaron donated the money raised to The Heart and Stroke Foundation and Brides for The Cure. Both of them had lost very close family members to cancer and heart problems.

The vendors used for her wedding did so at a reduced cost in order to make the event a success.  Her clients put on a few dance sequences throughout the ceremony...making this the most unique wedding this photographer has ever attended.

The reception was held at the picturesque Maplehurst Manor  in Maitland, Ontario, such a beautiful setting for a wedding or reception.

Ottawa Photographer | Tanya and Graysson

Tanya is one of the sweetest people I know.  She came into my life when I desperately needed a hair stylist who could take control of my hair! That was a few years ago now, and I have come to realize how special she is as our friendship has grown.  Her little boy Graysson is an absolute delight!

Thank you Tanya for all the thoughtful things you have done for me and for asking me to take pictures of you and Greysson (there is really no need as her sister is an amazing photographer). I love spending time with you and I love your ideas for our photoshoots! So fun! xo

Trash the Dress Ottawa | Jill loves her dress

A month after her wedding Jill and I set out to do her Trash the Dress session.  Jill loves her dress, and that is putting it mildly.  She told me she wants to wear it all the time!  Too cute!

Jill also loves soccer.  She coaches her sons team and wanted to bring her soccer ball and cleats for some fun shots....so off we went.  The fields were packed as they are almost every night during the summer here in Russell.  So amid the questioning stares from some soccer moms, dads and players we found a section of empty field and headed over. So. Much. Fun!

Disclaimer: no wedding dresses were harmed during the photo shoot and the majority of the dirt on it was from the wedding. You have to love country weddings.  Good luck to the dry cleaners they have their work cut out for them with this dress!

Did I mention Jill loves her dress?  She really loves her dress!
