Love! Trash! The Dress! | Ottawa Wedding Photographer Trash the Dress

There is so much snow outside from the storm yesterday and it is going to be here for a while.  So this blog post is about much warmer times, one day last summer, where I seriously did not stop smiling for four hours! Ear-to-ear, my face hurt the next day.

This was my first Love!Trash! The Dress photo session and it was so much fun.  Tristyn and Will had married two weeks earlier and were 'gung-ho' to try it out and have some fun in 'The Dress' (well Tristyn was, Will would be happy no matter what, as long as he was fishing-which he did a lot!).
I love wedding dresses, and I don't want to do anything dry cleaning can't fix, that is why I throw the word 'Love' in there with 'Trash'.

Enjoy and thanks for stopping by.
Phillipa

Love that dress again, relaxed this time with nothing to worry about. And that is what she did....

My favourite first...

If you are wondering what I used for post processing they were all from Dawn Gordon's preset sets. She sells them for $30 and you get over 40 and they are so very worth it! They are just amazing presets!

Engagements, newborns and my first Twins | Ottawa Wedding Photographer

So, this is definitely a catch-up-blog.  I really don't know any other photographer who is as bad at blogging on a regular basis (or even as close to being as bad, as I am).  Anyone who visited here this summer would have thought I didn't work at all over the last five months, but it is really the opposite!  And next years wedding season is shaping up to be sweet!!!

Here are a few sessions I did this summer-enjoy, and leave a little love (nothing like some encouragement for the wonderful subjects I had infront of my camera-and also for myself and my reluctance to blog!)

Mandy and Chris | Engaged

Loved, loved, loved this session.  Mandy and Chris are getting married at Lago Dows Lake in October. I am so excited to be their photographer, I love taking pictures of them!

 Erin and Shaun | Engaged
Erin and Shaun are another fantastic couple getting married in October.  I loved doing this engagement session, we were at a beautiful spot ( I think it's my new fav)  It is going to be an absolutely beautiful wedding at Strathmere House, I can't wait!

And then I had a newborn session with the most gorgeous twin baby boys!  Wade and Mason are the very first set of twins infront of my camera, they were so good-loved them.  And, yes, everything is doubled-twice as many pictures and I was there far longer than I usually am, but I loved every minute of it.

More boys!  Here are new arrival Carter, and big brother Chase. Carter slept the whole time-which was perfect, what an angel, even when he was awake briefly.  And Chase was happiest when Dad brought the neighbours dog over for photos with him, so cute.

October is going to be my busiest month yet-I definitely have to catch up and blog my summer weddings soon, so stay tuned..... somewhat!

Wedding | Steven and Jaime

On May 8, Soulmates Jaime and Steven, tied the knot.

It was an absolute honour to be their photographer for their gorgeous wedding.  Married at the beautiful St. Anthony's church in Ottawa with their precious little girl Olivia, and their family and friends around them.

I have known Jaime and her brother Derek since I was 14. I was their babysitter some Friday nights and for a whole summer one year, in The 'Gower'.  We had a lot of fun together-they were really cute!

Life flies by, flash forward 20+ odd years and once again through the wonders of Facebook, I reconnect with Jaime. Last summer I met her incredibly sweet and genuine fiancee Steven, and photographed them with their newborn bundle; Olivia, when she was just a few days old.

Thanks to my 'second shooters' who did a fantastic job; Julie and April. Steven and Jaime's wedding was my first 'proffesional'wedding and I had a blast.

So beautiful, so romantic and so fun!

The photobooth was a hit!  For those of you asking about those pictures-they are on their way! There is a teaser below, make sure you join their facebook group for the link to the gallery (coming soon!), if you didn't leave your info with us at the photobooth.  You can also send me an email for the info through the contact section on my website.

How they met, in their own words.

Jaime:
So for 3 months I refused to date him...when he left for xmas holidays I realized that I really missed him and maybe I did want to date him. We had met through some friends while in college, he stayed my friend and never tried anything 'til I was ready. We hung out almost everyday....we were best friends.

Steven:
I met her and thought "wow who is this girl?".   She was kinda cocky and didn't take any crap from anyone. We hung out with the same friends for a bit and when everyone went home for Xmas holidays we were all by ourselves hanging out for a few days until I left. I knew if I waited it out she would realize what a catch I was lol. I knew right away we would be together a long time. I just needed to convince her.

Bridal party hair:  Tammy Deacon from New Image Salon (Fantastic sylist!)
Flowers: Posh Pedals Florist (Just beautiful!)

Photobooth fun!

A mothers love...

Victoria was so relaxed and so totally in love with darling 7 day old  Alexandra. I had to actually blink hard and take a couple of deep breaths when she looked at her little bundle. Yes, the profound expression of love and delightment on her face for little Alexandra was that real.  So sweet.

Victoria had contacted me to let me know about her upcoming April due date, back in February.  As usual waiting was torture for me...nevermind the really excited mama-to-be!  On April 19, gorgeous, darling little Alexandra arrived and I finally got to meet them both a week later.
What a content little angel Alexandra was, she barely made a peep and was a photographers dream with just the right amount of sleepy time and awake time.

A mothers love is instinctual, unconditional and forever.-Unknown
